Dear Colleagues,

It is a great honour and pleasure for us to invite you to participate in the scientific Symposium e-Cardiology which will be held in Osijek. The Symposium is jointly organised by the Working Groups on e/Cardiology of the European Society of Cardiology and of the Croatian Cardiac Society.

The e-Cardiology Symposium will be organised as an interactive, high level educational symposium covering the most innovative fields, and promoting wide use of information technology (IT) within different fields of cardiology. This includes the application of IT in research and routine clinical practice, both within and outside the hospital environment.

The scope of the ESC Working Group on e-Cardiology encompasses the wide area of specialized computer methods in cardiovascular image processing, computational knowledge discovery, artificial intelligence, intelligent data analysis, bio-signal processing, signal and system modelling, databases, intra- and inter-hospital communication and predictive models development. The Working Group provides and effective infrastructure for scientists from various fields to interact on new topics and applications in IT cardiology.

The main target audiences of the Symposium are cardiology fellows and young cardiologists, as well as medical computer scientists, (medical) physicists, bioengineers, residents, general practitioners and all of those with interest in IT. The Symposium and General Assembly will also offer an exceptional opportunity for wide communication between participants.

We are very proud that this inaugural Symposium on e-Cardiology will be ogranised in Croatia, in a co-operation between ESC WG on e-Cardiology and WG on e-Cardiology of the Croatian Cardiac Society.

We look forward to seeing you in Osijek.
